The Arizona kids are not necessarily collectors. That's a good thing. I am a bit of a collector, and I know what it's like to feel that obsessive, overwhelming pull to find the next thing in that collection (souvenir buildings... German wood Christmas ornaments... cookie cutters... books books books... fabric fabric fabric). I also dislike having too much stuff. It makes for an interesting life: "must buy that! must buy that!" "must get rid of that! must get rid of that!" "I have too much STUFF."
Umm, back to the AZ kids.
One of them told me that she was collecting the 6" versions of the American Girl dolls. And then I saw these Christmas ornaments in Macy*s. And she had a birthday coming up in March.
Then I found cafe chairs on ebay (patio chairs from the old Madeline dollhouse). And beads shaped like little cups of hot chocolate at JoAnns. And Re-ment desserts on ebay.
The most important find?
The candlestick at Michaels that just had to be painted black and varnished to become a perfectly scaled table. I stopped myself before I made a marble top.
Isn't it fun to collect stuff, and then send it away?
Oh, and Dawn, you crazy quilter, AG maven, you? I thought of you the whole time.
