Thank you for all of your opinions! I love asking questions like that. Janet weighed in, too, and she liked the clean, plain hem. After one month - it's done and on its way to Arizona!
Also in the box is Howard:
A few years ago, I made wee wonderful's Archie for one of the Arizona boys. He asked me, last time I visited, if I'd make a doll for his little brother. And then Janet mentioned that said little brother had asked her for a doll. When she agreed, he asked, "an Aunt Chelle doll?" Awwwww.
Howard is a little skinnier than Archie, and a lot floppier - I didn't stuff those legs and arms as much as usual. His face and hands are flannel, which will not be as sturdy as the broadcloth I used for Archie. Unfortunately, I forgot all about the broadcloth until I'd started stuffing.
That all sounds negative, but I like him. When I finish a doll, I feel like I've brought a personality to life. Howard seems to have a likable, shy, and sweet personality - very like his future owner.
In case you're wondering - Howard is named in honor of Howard Johnson's restaurants. The turquoise and orange just seemed to ask for it.
