And it's been a little busy since then. Virginia, getting water out of the basement (that whole denial thing didn't work after all), work deadlines, cleaning and mouse-proofing a pantry, Club Little House, and a very busy week with a visit from the Arizona crew:
A sandcastle birthday cake (using the Vanilla pound cake recipe from Baking with Flavor - yum!)
and an Archie for the occasion. Archie's black eye is explained by the chocolate frosting that was served along with the sandcastle cake. A Tide pen healed it.
Saratoga battlefield (and another twirly skirt).
Sparklers in the back yard, followed by the traditional eating of the cinnamon rolls.
Not to mention the free musical in the park (Grease); Hoffman's Playland; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Natural History, Central Park, and Trinity Church (because National Treasure was filmed there); visiting with old friends; singing the traditional songs (Dancing with Bears and All God's Critters); lemon cake; the Troy farmer's market; and back-to-school shopping.
Now I'm back to cooking for one instead of nine, and I can post again. My admiration goes out to each and every one of you who can post while mothering!
