Due to the interaction with cranberries and blood thickness/thinness targets we decided to swap pie cherries for the cranberries.
Also, we did not sprinkle the cinnamon on top. The flavor of cinnamon did not seem to go with the cherries.
Our changes created a desert with too much liquid. It tastes fine and it will be eaten.
Next time, we will leave out the orange juice and the orange zest. It masks the cherry flavor. Also, when using pie cherries, the extra liquid is not wise. Also, the fruit mixture still may need a thickening agent. So, that could mean some more testing.
The crust is the best part of this recipe and we will use it on other cobblers.
