I started this blog, a little over a year ago, with one explicit rule: no angst. Therefore, I didn't bother to write anything for the last week. Nothing went particularly wrong, other than my wasting hour after hour, hating myself more and more. Then the sewing machine broke Saturday. The poor thing is a hand-me-down that has been sewing strong for nearly forty years, so it was due for a operation. But this close to the holidays?
I decided, in my effort To Be A Better Person Who I Can Admire, to go without TV this week. That lasted until tonight: nearly two whole days!
But tonight, I was smart enough to turn on C-Span. There was the Ed Bradley memorial service. I'm now, as I write, listening to Wynton Marsalis. And my spirit is renewed, and I'm ready to start life again. That's the great thing about TV. I can be in Riverside Church tonight, listening to the best jazz to be found anywhere in the nation this Tuesday.
