Since she travels a lot, I decided to give her a luggage set, and a few souvenirs...
It all started with what seemed to be a supremely easy idea: cover a mint tin with fabric to create a suitcase. Umm, not so easy. The duffle and purse, both of which I love, were made to help me feel better about the slightly goofy-looking suitcase. I did find a helpful website, in the process, that tells you how to glue one material to another. Lesson 1 of the process: Elmer's glue does NOT glue fabric to metal.
Everything else was printed out on my inkjet printer, and glued together or decoupaged onto wood. Lesson 2: I learned that my inkjet printer, while a great printer, does not feed the paper exactly the same each time. When trying to print back-to-back pages for a miniature guidebook or passport, this makes a difference. Prayer seemed to be the best method to get it to work.
I learned a lot, and had fun. It's been a long time since I played with dollhouse stuff, and this was a great incentive to do it!
